Simultaneous with this activity, the 4H clubs also underwent re-organizations/revitalization. This year, there were ten (10) 4H Club submitted to the Provincial Agriculture Office for registration. They are at present aggressively undertaking agriculture projects for the benefit of the members and officers. They are also doing some consultations with the 4H coordinator for guidance in undertaking their projects.
The Agriculture Office also had facilitated the release of PCIC checks of farmers whose crops were damaged by typhoon Juan last October. Though there were farmers who were not satisfied with the amount released to them, at P300.00 per hectare premium that they paid subsidized by the government, farmers who insured their crops last wet cropping season are in the win-win scenario.
The Livestock division of the agriculture office is currently conducting massive vaccination of anti-rabies vaccines to the canines in the municipality. Vaccines are provided by the Provincial Vet and the PVET personnel are also assisting in the vaccination. Large Animals are also scheduled to be administered with hemosept vaccine this coming March or April when farm activities needing the services of these animals will be over.

The municipal nursery is distributing various seedlings of vegetables and fruit trees to interested individuals and schools for their greening projects and individual home gardens for the assurance of food always in the home (FAITH). Along with this project, the agriculture office is also promoting the Vermiculture & production for source of organic fertilizer that will enhance the crops especially in the vacant lots utilization project acronymed CRISPINA ON THE GO.
Major changes were also initiated in the Meat and fish sections of the Public market ever since the agriculture office took in charge of the slaughter house. These changes were initiated in order to establish better services to consumers who are not only within San Mateo but also for the satisfaction of those who are visiting the municipality and to create an impression that San Mateo is truly a Galing Pook not only for its Balatong but in all its services to the public.
The practices in handling frozen meats were the most given attention since incorrect handling will affect health of consumers. Proper labeling of beef and carabeef by meat vendors were also considered. The butchers as well as the ambulant meat vendors were also called for a dialogue by the Municipal Agriculturist and their side in the scene was also taken for consideration. The Agriculture office is optimistic that more changes will be carried out all for the benefit of consumers in the municipality.
