San Mateo is most conveniently reached by land transportation. It is traversed from Manila via by Cagayan Valley road. San Mateo is approximately eight to ten hours from Manila, including stopovers.

Local buses like Florida, Victory Liner, Baliwag Transit, Dalin, Nelbusco are available.

From Manila, you take the northbound route that will traverse NLEX, then take Sta. Rita, Bulacan exit. You will pass by San Jose Nueva Ecija, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya and Santiago, Isabela. You can also opt for SCTEX which will pass by the municipality of Aliaga and Zaragoza in Nueva Ecija.

The closest airports are Cauayan City Airport in Cauayan, Isabela (30 mins. ride) and Tuguegarao City Airport in Tuguegarao City (2 hours ride).

From Baguio, San Mateo is just four hours away if you take the Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya-Ambuklao, Benguet road or seven hours via San Jose, Nueva Ecija-Rosario, Pangasinan road.
