Poultry/Livestock Raising

  • Chickens, ducks, geese, quails, turkeys and others are commonly raised and the dispersal of peking duck to the farmers brought forth another sprawling industry - the egg production or the white gold of San Mateo.
  • Commonly raised livestock in the municipality are carabaos, cattles, swines and goats which flourished from the LGu's initiative in the dispersal of farm animals.
  • A women's organization, the Pag-Asa Bayanihan Association developed the salted egg industry making the municipality a constant participant in the national, regional and provincial trade fairs. It normally became the secondary OTOP of San Mateo. The Phil-Export acknowledged the product as the standard of the global market.

One Town One Product (OTOP)

Munggo - due to the many benefits derived from munggo, the municipality adopted it as its OTOP. Women organizations prefilled from munggo production by processing it into pancit balatong and other food delicacies like buchi, moriecos and guinatang munggo. Every last week of April, the municipality celebrates the Balatong Festival as a sign of gratitude to God for this Black Gold Blessing.
